Each year, the Conference Core Team invites a variety of speakers who can encourage, teach and inspire us in different ways often using their own testimonies. In 2012 we have Canon Matthew Jones, Derek Williams, Andy Stayne and Sister Maria Natella OP plus the welcome return of Mime Artist Steve Murray.
CANON MATTHEW JONES
Describes himself as a parish priest in north Cardiff, working with another priest in 3 churches.
Cardiff born and bred, he is also involved in other areas of church life, such as the National Tribunal for Wales, where he is currently Judicial Vicar.
In fact he is also a Canon lawyer and a gifted and eloquent speaker who has visited Hereford Catholic Conference in the past and celebrated Mass at the first Celebrate Conference in Cardiff earlier this year.
He is also the author of The Canon’s Stall -
STEVE MURRAY is a gifted mime artist who uses his amazing talent to share the Gospel with people of all ages.
He has performed at the Hereford Conference for many years as well as Celebrate up and down the country.
He has also worked with the children of St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Primary school and will be there during the first day of the Hereford Conference bringing the Bible stories alive for the children.
In recent years, Steve has also pursued his love of painting and will undoubtedly have copies available for sale at the Conference.
ANDY STAYNE is based in a community in Cornwall. His main focus has always been intimacy with the Lord and walking in his presence.
A key verse for him is, “I shall dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life” (Psalm 23:6).
He has been a worship leader for many years and has been led to evangelise in the UK, Malta, Ghana, India and Poland. He has led workshops in which people have been released in the gifts of the Spirit especially prophecy and he leads the prophetic intercession at New Dawn with Ros Powell
He also leads the prayer chair ministry in the local market place every Saturday which he describes as ‘prophetic evangelism’, like Jesus and the woman at the well in Samaria, where those working with him use the gifts of the Spirit to minister into people’s lives.
As was evident at the Hereford Catholic Conference last year, his teaching has always
had a prophetic edge to it as he seeks to give the prophetic message the Lord puts
on his heart for any particular group. A part-
DEREK WILLIAMS is a Catholic evangelist who teaches the Word of God. The primary purpose of this ministry is to help people, of all denominations and none, to read and understand God's Word.
His first visit to Hereford was at the 2010 conference where he gave a number of inspirational talks and workshops and jointly led the healing service with Andy Stayne on Saturday evening.
The healing was very tangible and those present felt the Holy Spirit act in waves.
Derek was with us in 2011 and also lead one of the sessions in the Life in the Spirit seminars held recently at Holy Trinity RC Church in Ledbury.
